Question: yes, I'm better from the viral infection. But this week I have woke up twice shivering and it really wasn't cold and I've been dizzy so I checked my BP and it was 184/98 and had frontal headaches.

Brief Answer:
Elevated blood pressure may be causing symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for the query.

Your blood pressure is significantly elevated. This is concerning enough that I think you should see your primary care physician for a focused consult and physical exam. You may need medication to bring your blood pressure to a more acceptable level.

The elevated blood pressure may also be contributing to dizziness and headache. For this reason a good physical exam would be important.

Regarding the shivering - this could be related to your body recovering from the viral syndrome. At the same time it is remotely possible that you may have a bit of residual infection which your immune system is fighting. This should resolve within 48 hours but if not then it would be reason to see a medical provider. Since you may be seeing your doctor to discuss blood pressure concerns you can review this with him as well.

You could try taking some acetaminophen for the shivering also.

Thanks again for sending the query.

Sincerely,

Dr Galamaga
