What Causes Shooting Pain At One Spot In Lower Back?

Mild disc prolapse likely.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain on one point on the back that causes a shooting pain along the leg on pressing is likely to be due to a nerve root compression at the level of spine. It can happen due to disc prolapse or a muscle spasm of the back muscles due to stress.
Physiotherapy like intermittent lumbar traction and back exercise reduces pressure of disc bulge for some time & gives relief.
The following measures will help with the pain
• Lie on a hard bed.
• Anti -inflammatory drugs like Tablet Motrin or ibuprofen 1 tablet as and when required ( dont repeat a dose before 6 hours) with food.
• Avoid forward bending.
• Correct your posture while sitting
• Avoid prolonged sitting
• Avoid strenuous activity & lifting heavy weights.
• Apply diclofenac gel on the affected area. Warm compresses will also help.
Using an LS contour belt of appropriate size might be helpful in providing support to back muscles. Muscle relaxants can help with your symptoms if used in appropriate dosage in combination with a potent analgesic. You can get these prescribed from your orthopedician.
I hope this answers your query.
