What Causes Shooting Pain In The Sides Of The Foot?

Question: I had shooting pains in the side of my left foot that came and went in waves for probably 2 hours during the night. No noticeable marks on the surface of my foot but is tender to touch. This has happened before; about every 3 or 4 months for a short duration and is very painful. What is this???

Hi,

I have read your query.

Pain at this age may be due to many reasons like, prolong standing, walking which may lead to plantar fascia, diabetic neuropathy, metatarsalgia, increase uric acid, previous history of trauma etc.

So I advise you to get fast blood sugar, serum uric acid, ESR,CRP levels checked, xray of foot in AP and oblique view done and send me report.

Till then have tab.aceclofenac100mg+serratiopeptidase15mg thrice a day by prescription of your family doctor.

Apply cold packs for 3 days then hot packs.

Avoid prolong standing, running etc.

Do stretching exercise for foot and leg.

Drink a lot of liquid.
