Posted on Sat, 4 Jul 2015
Question: I have chronic belching have had it for a year and a half. i have seen a Gastro dr. have had a upper scope done of stomach and esophagus they said i have inflammation but not sure what that meant the took a sample of stomach lining said i have the H-Pylori virus gave me 14 days worth of antibiotics it did nothing that was 6 months ago i have been in the hospital for the symptom the belching produces like your having a heart attack have had 3 stress test in a year and a half i have had a stent put in my heart still no relief. i don't smoke i don't drink alcohol don't drink coffee or sodas ever never fried foods . still have belching after every meal after i lift weights after i run on treadmill. it usually only stops for awhile if i drink a half bottle of pepto or rolaids have never had heartburn or pains in stomach but when i start belching i get shooting pains in left arm left side of neck dizzy light headed so after being fleeced out of 30k of my own money and 125k billed to insurance i have nothing solved so any thoughts before i head to Mayo clinic. it has put my life at a stand still. And I have over 20 blood test in the last year and a half

Brief Answer:
Hiatal hernia/Gerd,,,,,

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone through your medical history carefully and can say as following:
1.     You are reporting that you have done upper endoscopy and diagnose was stomach inflammation (gastritis) with H.Pylori.
Please can you upload all the reports you have? This way I can check your overall health status by my self..

2.     I would like to know more of your medical data like:
-     What are your current medications.
-     Did you use PPI like omeprazole both with antibiotic treatment and how long?

3.     With regard to your symptoms like belching especially after eating or lifting heavy objects, are indicative for :
-     Hiatal hernia
-     GERD ( acid refluks)
So If I were your treating doctor I would recommend doing:
-Barium swallow test to evaluate if hiatal hernia is present.
-repeat upper endoscopy to evaluate stomach inflammation.

4.     Mean time I suggest to :
-use PPI like pantoprazole twice per day
- use metochlopramide
- use ant acid 1.5 hours after meal.
- avoid aerophagia
- eat often and small meals
-use two pillows when you lay down
- avoid carbonated drinks, spicy, fatty, chilly foods
-increase physical activity

Hope it is helpful to you.
Wishing you all the best.
Dr.Klerida
