What Causes Shortness Of Breath After Having Zocor?

Question: I have been having short of breath I was admited in the hospital I was check for heat problens. Theyghave me muscle relaxers because I was having muscle spasm in my stomach and back which I found out I had all the side affect from Zocor. I never took the muscle relaxer. Right now the short of breath is strong do I need to go to ER or should I take muscle relaxer that was given to me.

Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
Zocor is having simvastatin. It is lipid lowering drug.
And it is known to cause gastritis and muscle problem.
But shortness of breath is not a side effect of zocor.
This is something else.
Shortness of breath is common in cardiac and pulmonary causes.
So better to consult doctor and get done
1. Clinical examination of respiratory system.
2. Chest x ray.
3. PFT ( pulmonary function test ) to rule out pulmonary causes.
Get done ecg and 2d echo to rule out cardiac causes.
So better to visit emergency room and first diagnose yourself and then start appropriate treatment.
