What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Dizziness When Diagnosed With Anxiety?

Question: I am 44 years old. I have a BMI of 31. I jog about 3 to 4 miles at least 3 days a week for past year. I had a heart XXXXXXX in January 2016, which was negative for any abnomoralaites. The reason why I sought care from a cardiologist was to rule it out due my acid reflux symptoms. My question concerns a twitching sensation that I feel in areas like around the left side of my chest close to my underarm and nipple area, on the right side of rib cage, and sometimes high in my sternum. They are painless and typically happen when I am laying down. I do take clonazapem for the past year and half for anxiety, which is related to a fear of a heart attack. I am very aware of what my heart is doing at all times. Typically my resting rate ranges from 57 to 63 when I'm at rest for long periods. this feeling that I described as a quick twitch has my anxiety running high as I feel like my heart is faulty. I do check my blood pressure regularly and its normal with no abnormal heart beat notifications for the past few years. My heart does not start racing either, it doesn't shoot up in the 100's or drop into the 40's. stays about the same. So again, this twitching feeling I have been told by my IM is muscle related, since I had a pectoral injury around the time they started (about 2 months ago). My fear is some kind of weird heart spasm, but would that be felt only in the middle of chest? I don't experience anything that I would described as shortness of breath or dizziness. I have vertigo so I know what dizziness can feel like when I have an episode. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
The twitching is likely to be muscle related

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for trusting CHM

The twitching feeling you are describing is likely muscle related. Anxiety can lead to such muscle twitches. There is nothing to be worried about especially since you had a normal coronary angiogram.
Please do not worry about heart problems. Cardiac issues like heart attack or arrhythmias will present with pain, increased heart rate and feeling of pounding heart. There is nothing to be worried about. You can relax. Reducing anxiety will likely reduce the muscle twitches.
