Brief Answer:
Medicine less likely the cause
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
I appreciate your efforts for medical consultation in so much distress.
Important aspects of your query are:
• 63 year old female
• Working part time
• Currently on
remeron,
Lexapro and cloniprin
• Complaints of:
shortness of breath, rubbery legs when only walking short distances like: walking from parking lot into work, from outside into the house and from one end of the house to the other
Remeron, Lexapro and cloniprin are antianxiety medications. These medicines do not lead to side effects like your are experiencing in usual clinical population. If your problem started within 1-2 weeks of starting medicines (remeron, Lexapro and cloniprin) then you can request your
psychiatrist to review treatment. If you are on treatment for long and current problem recent in origin or vice versa then medicines are least likely cause.
Considering your age following are possible causes of your suffering:
-Orthostatic hypotension: Reduction in blood pressure in sudden change in posture like: lying down/sitting to standing/walking: need to rule out by BP monitoring
-Cardiac illness
-Residual anxiety symptoms: can cause chokking feeling and MUSS (medically unexplained somatic symptoms) like rubbery legs.
-Rubbery legs can also occur due to neurological problem (neuropathy) or due to
Diabetes.
-Weakness or
vitamins deficiency.
There is need to rule out above conditions by examination and investigations.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. In case of any doubt, I will be available for follow ups.
Wish you good health.
