What Causes Shortness Of Breath, Dry Cough And Profuse Night Sweats?

Question: I have had a cough for over 7 weeks. I took a round of steroids for it about 4 weeks ago but had no real improvement. The cough started from what seemed to be some type of viral illness with some fever for a few days. I do not have any shortness of breath or weakness but I did have night sweats for the first few weeks. Those have improved. Should I go back to my doctor or just give the cough time to ease. The cough is a dry cough most of the time.

Brief Answer:
Yes, you should definitely go to your doctor and get done chest x ray.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
You are having chronic cough (cough for more than 2 weeks).
So you should definitely go to your doctor and get done chest x ray and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
Chest x ray is needed to rule out lung infection and PFT is needed to rule out obstructive Airway disease (OAD).
Please let me know if you had these done or not.
I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
