What Causes Shortness Of Breath While On A Stent?
Shortness of breath and sometimes I have to catch my breath 3years ago
I had a stent and valve done
I started using a nebulizer
Is it predictable? Does it occur at rest or when exercising?
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this shortness of breath that you have reported. The most likely causes are heart and lung related problems. To make the difference, I will need to get responses to a few more questions.
1. Does this occur at rest or during exercises?
2. Is it predictable?
3. Does nebulizing with salbutamol makes a difference?
4. Can you predict in what situation you will get shortness or breath?
5. How has your heart function been?
All these will help me to provide a more focused, precise and helpful response as to what the possible cause is, proposed evaluation and possible a management plan. I hope to hear from you soon and promise to return as soon as possible with more insights.
This could be asthma if the nebulizer makes a difference.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
With this occurring at rest and the nebulizer making a huge difference, this is probably related to asthma. I will suggest that you ask your doctor if this is asthma. However, nitrostat is for heart related pain. It doesn't seem very clear if Nitrostat also makes a difference as this is mainly used for heart related pains. What precise diagnosis has your doctor handed to you?
Let me hear from you on what the exact diagnosis is or whether your doctor is managing you both for heart related pain and asthma.
Thanks for replying!
Happy you are alright.
