What Causes Skin Hives After Taking Synthroid?

Synthroid
Detailed Answer:
What is the dose of your synthroid? And may I know the color of your synthroid tablet please?
It is not possible to have synthroid allergy due to the medication in it which is levothyroxine because the human body makes the exact same levothyroxine.
It is the XXXXXXX in synthroid that gives it the unique color that is specific to each dose, that has the potential for an allergic reaction.
So the 50 mcg dose is white in color. It has no XXXXXXX in it. If you are on that then you are certainly not allergic to synthroid.
If you are on any other dose then, try taking the 50 mcg tablets in a dose that approximates your current dose, and see if the hives and itching go away. If it does, then you are likely allergic to the XXXXXXX in synthroid.
(For example if my patient is on 100 mcg and I suspect a XXXXXXX allergy because the 100 mcg is yellow in color, I advise them to stop the 100 mcg and instead take two tablets of 50 mcg and see how they feel)
