What Causes Sleeplessness, Tinnitus And Loss Of Sense Of Taste And Smell?
I returned to the hospital three more times due to complete inability to sleep. each time I left the hospital I was in worse shape. My diagnosis is PTSD and Complex PTSD and Anxiety but I got sick from the drugs they gave me. I also had odd feelings in my mouth and tongue. It is hard for me to be still and I am also shaky Do you have any idea what this is?
Thanks. It seems like the things that used to be easy for me are extremely hard now, physically. I used to teach school and I was a published writer, but now it is all I can do to type.. Due to my loss of senses, I don't "feel" sad or depressed, but I'm sure I am on some level. I never sleep more than three hours a night, and I never get REM sleep. My quality of life has dropped to zero and I can't continue like this..
Take treatment and get tested as advised
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Detoxification leads to withdrawal symptoms which can persist for months in some cases.
Alcohol causes nutritional deficiencies like vitamin B1, B12, and also folic acid deficiency. Testing for vitamin B12 levels should be done and supplemented if low.
Low B12 may cause memory and concentration issues too.
Thyroid profile should be done along with.
Sleep disturbance can be treated by taking zolpidem which has no abuse potential.
Bathing before going to bed, avoiding any caffeine intake in evening and night, avoiding too much of TV, laptop at night, switching off all lights and sound will be helpful in promoting a sound sleep.
You can also visit a Neurologist/Psychiatrist for psychological evaluation and regarding the need for medications for stress.
Hope you found the answer helpful. Let me know if I can assist you further.

When I was in the hospital the fourth time last year, a psychiatrist gave me something that was supposed to make me sleep, but it made me much worse -- I paced and could not sit still and she took me off of it because it made me jerk. I hope I do not have Tardive Dyskinesia. I had an extreme reaction to the Phenobarbital while going through detox - my blood pressure spiked and I had horrible visual hallucinations and immediately began having trouble with my sense of hearing. The nurses were concerned about my reaction. Also, I was extremely emotional - I cried a lot, and that is the last time I cried.
Have you ever heard of a case where a person lost all of their senses? And the constant loud ringing in the ears is horrible. It sounds like thousands of crickets chirping in my ears. Thanks for your help..
One more thing, I was also given Gabapentin while in the hospital. I was told it was a drug for pain, but I read that it was to prevent seizures. After I began having visual hallucinations, I was taken off of the Seroquil and the Gabapentin.
I just want to regain my senses, literally, and to be able to resume a normal life.
The physical effects from the detox and the drugs has taken a big toll on me.

The symptoms mentioned are more likely due to stress than any organic illness.
The previous mentioned tests can be done.
It is not tardive dyskinesia.
The psychiatrist assessment is required with treatment titration.
The drugs used by psychiatrist are having slow action with some side effects but gradual increase may be tried.
