What Causes Small Dark Circular Patches On Arms And Back?
Question: My mother in law has many many small dark circular patches on the arms and back. She says they itch. She is in her mid forties, not sure if that is a factor. When she first presented it to me i felt as though it looked like hyperpigmentation/hypopigmentation. I'm not in anyway a doctor but I now don't believe it looks anything like that. It's all over her arms some have scabs very dark though.

In case of fungal infection anti fungal lotions like ketoconazole and systemic anti fungal drugs like fluconazole will be helpful.

I have gone through your pictures. It look like lichen planus. A consultation with a dermatologist will be helpful to confirm it. For this corticosteroids like clobetasol for local application will be helpful. I would suggest ointments or creams with combination of clobetasol and anti bacterial like gentamycin. Antihistamines like cetrizine can be taken for itching.
