What Causes Small Painless Lump Just Outside Anus?

default
Posted on Wed, 25 Jun 2014
Question: I have a small painless lump just outside my anus. I looks a little black and blue and is somewhat hard under the skin. Doesn't really cause any problems, so far. What could it be? Been there for a couple of weeks. Thought it could be a hemorrhoid, but there is no pain. I am a 32 year old male in good health.

Brief Answer:
Probably a hemorrhoid!

Detailed Answer:
HI and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this lump.

From the information you have provided, this lump is likely to be a hemorrhoid. Hemorrhoids are generally painless masses and only cause pain when there is a complication. The blue/dark coloration is related to the coloration of stagnant blood.

For now, there is no need to worry as your are free of any complication that needs medical intervention. I will recommend that you eat enough fibers and vegetables, drink much water and keep your stool of normal consistency. This lump would disappear in due course and may take even up to 4weeks before regressing to a non-recognizable size.

In all, this is a hemorrhoid. Maintain normal bowel habits. It will disappear all by itself unless something else happens.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and please feel free to ask for more information and clarification if need be.
