What Causes Small Pupils Associated With Feeling Of Discomfort In Chest?

Posted on Tue, 3 Jun 2014
Question: I keep getting small pupils and feel unstable in the upper chest, hands get cold, sometimes the shakes, can feel like indigestion also. Back is tied up in knots. Been too emergency a couple of times recently and a full heart test a couple of years back with no problems per doctors. Could it be a pinched nerve. DVT in 2007 but checked clear since then. An hr of cardio almost every day. Doesn't happen when working out. Everytime I get checked they say it is nothing but seems very real to me.

Brief Answer:
It seems like generalized anxiety or fainting.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic

It seems from the history that you are having small pupils associated with feeling of discomfort in chest, coldness of hands, tremors of hands...

Since you seem to be in good health and performing cardio for an hour almost every day and heart/cardiac evaluation has been normal, no need to worry.

These symptoms indicate generalized anxiety or attacks of fainting or vasovagal syncope. These symptoms are not related to pinched nerve or any other condition. Hence no need to worry. If it is long time since you have undergone cardiac evaluation, I advice you to undergo cardiac evaluation to rule out transient ischemic attacks as a cause for this unusual symptoms.

Other wise no need to worry.

Hope the information is helpful to you.

Thank you

Brief Answer:
It can be caused by cardiac or vascular cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir,
Thank you for the follow up query.

Since you are having previous history of deep vein thrombosis and you are complaints like hands getting cold with tremors of hands, discomfort in chest do suggest a attack of fainting either because of vasovagal syncope or because of transient ischmeia.
The few common causes to be ruled out are cardiac causes like disorders of rhythm of the heart rate, emboli from the heart... and vascular causes like atherosclerosis affecting the major arteries, thrombosis of the deep veins...

With a past history of deep vein thrombosis and presence of symptoms suggestive of transient ischemia, require a cardiovascular evaluation before saying it as normal or because of anxiety.

Hope the information is helpful to you.

Thank you
