
What Causes Small White Heads Across Thighs And Behind Arms?

Question: Dear Doctor,
I have got small white heads across my thighs and behind my arms i got to see the same similar to chicken skin.. I wash it daily and also apply powder or moisturizer but in vain.
Please Help!

A: Since a long time probably around 1 year.

A: Yes, sometimes there's a lot of itching and pain.
What all have you been applying over the affected areas?
A: Vasline moisturizers, Dermicool and Nycil powder.

Superficial folliculitis, take treatment
Detailed Answer:
Hi again
I have seen the attached pictures .
You seem to have developed lesions of superficial folliculitis which is basically an infection of the hair follicle .
Most importantly, you should avoid application of any moisturising creams or oils over your body since oil and moisturizers will increase tho development of such skin lesions .
You need to apply a topical antibiotic cream like neosporin or mupirocin over the affected areas twice a day . In addition, you might need to take oral tablet azithromycin 500 mg once a day for atleast three days .
Wear cotton clothes so as to decrease sweating . Such lesions tends to develop more in summers due to increased sweating and application of oils can increase their number .
Also you can continue to use an antifungal dusting powder over the folds twice a day.
