Brief Answer:
Yes

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
Yes you are right. The person with dual diagnosis has to experience the symptoms and distress of both the illnesses. At the same time the prognosis for both the illnesses is worse than if they were independently present. The medicines are more than being singly diagnosed and the risk of side-effect of the medicines is also there as the number of medicines is more. All these lead to a bigger medical, social and emotional problems. But this thing is not a rule. I have many patients of dual diagnosis who are doing well with the both the illnesses under control.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
