Hello XXXXXX
Thanks for writing to HCM
You are suffering from solitary pulmonary nodule(SPN) measuring 19 X 9 mm.It may be due to many reasons.
It is important to know your symptoms.
At this stage you need proper work-up for SPN. Solitary pulmonary nodule (SPN) is a mass in the lung smaller than 3 centimeters in diameter. It can be an incidental finding found in up to 0.2% of chest X-rays and around 1% of CT scans.
Mostly it is due to benign reasons like granuloma due to pneumonia, atelectasis etc. However malignant reasons should be excluded in your case due to your age.It is important to know history of smoking.
You need follow up scan to seen its increase in size.
You need further investigations like contrast CT Scan of thorax and if needed biopsy should be done for determining nature of the lesion.Further investigations can be done if needed.
Treatment depend upon findings.

Your doctor has rightly suggested for follow up scan after 3 months.
Most likely you have benign mass, your report also indicate towards benign mass.
It may be due to inflammatory mass due to pneumonia, tuberculosis etc,so broad spectrum antibiotic should be given first.Possibility of tuberculosis should also be ruled out.
You don't worry at all.Malignant mass are associated with many other findings like spiculated margin, enlarged lymph nodes etc.
However exact nature of lesion can only be confirmed by biopsy report and follow up scan.
Size of lesion doesn't matter much.Doubling time of lesion(means time in which its size get double)are important.
You should consult pulmonologist.
PET is not needed at present.
