What Causes Recurring Cough And Difficulty In Swallowing?

I have had persistent cough, difficulty swallowing, choking easily for over six years. Had every test done--diagnosed with acid reflux. No meds help. Saw pulmunary specialist. Said he saw calcified granulomas in lungs. Said could be in lymph nodes and be pertruding into airway causing prob. What can be done to fix or treat this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

The formation of calcified granulomas in the lungs is often due to infections.
These can be from a bacterial infection, such as tuberculosis which should be confirmed with examination.
The granulomas generally heal and disappear on their own. But, if they don't heal, the lung tissue can remain inflamed and become scarred and stiff.
Meanwhile,I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen to relieve the inflammation in the lung.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
