Brief Answer:
Bacterial pharyngitis likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Welcome to HCM forum, and thanks for posting to us.

Soreness in throat, associated with pain on swallowing and redness/edema of uvula is suggestive of a bacterial pharyngitis. As this is not responding to simple supportive measures(warm saline gargles and motrin), we need antibiotic treatment.

We usually give antibiotics like azithromycin 500 mg (once daily) or amoxicillin+clavulonate 625 mg(twice daily) for 3-5 days. As these are prescription medicines, your doctor will guide you in treatment.

Meanwhile, you avoid cold drinks and continue doing warm saline gargles and take motrin if needed.

Hope this answer will help.
