What Causes Sore Throat Along With Red Bumps On Neck, Arms, Chest And Back?
Question: I am a 57 year old female and two days ago broke out with red bumps like pimples but the are at the base of my neck and under my arms and my back and chest. I also had a sore throat that turned into a cold. Don't really know if I've had chicken pox. What is it? How long will it last?

I have gone through your query. If you send picture of it then it will be more helpful in idenifying. Please send some clear pictures if possible.
Do you have any associated burning sensation or pain on the rash area?
Do you had chicken pox before?
Is it spreading to other parts of body?
Chicken pox will spread other parts of body like abdomen hands back lower extremity. But if you had an episode of chicken pox before then this can be herpes zoster. If herpes zoster it will last 3 to 4 weeks. Antiviral therapy will help in early recovery.
If chicken pox it will get recovered in 1 to 2 weeks. You can apply soothing lotions like calamine lotion. Antiviral therapy will decrease the duration of illness also.

I have uploaded pictures and I don't know if I've had chicken pox. The bumps are very itchy but they don't burn. Also they are not going away instead i am finding more each day.

A consultation with a dermatologist is well appreciated. Microscopy of scrapings should be done to confirm it in case of inconsistency.
Permethrin 5% cream locally is effective for this. Oral ivermectin is also given in some case. Antihistamine like cetrizine will help to get relief from itching.
Your clothes and bed clothes should be washed also.
