What Causes Sore Throat And Difficulty In Swallowing After Having Oral Sex?

default
Posted on Fri, 18 Dec 2015
Question: Hi,

I gave my girlfriend oral sex last night and ever since I've been having a sore throat. It hurts when I swallow like the passage is tight. But that's not really a problem.

My girlfriend has been getting vertigo, dizziness, and migraines every single day for the past 9 months. She's seen tons of doctors about it but hasn't yet found a cure.

I was wondering if maybe she has something that is causing her the daily suffering that's being undiagnosed. She is too shy to tell her doctor about our little situation (that she received oral sex), so she'll ask for general tests from her gynecologist.

Is there anything specific that she should test for?

Please help.

Brief Answer:
Throat swab for culture and PCR tesrs.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. Get a throat swab for culture and antibiotic sensitivity. Additional PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction ) tests which are very sensitive can also be done.

2. I do not think that her migraine symptoms are related. Consult a Neurophysician or Neurootologist for the migraines/headaches and dizziness.

3. She can ask for similar swabs from the gynecologist as a routine check without sharing any history.

4. If there is no history of multiple partners, this is more likely to be a common sore throat that can be easily treated with routine medication (antibiotics, anti inflammatory, anti allergic and medicated gargles).

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
