Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. Get an ear examination done again to confirm if this is an ear infection and not referred ear pain from the sore throat (due to common nerve supply).
2. Steam inhalation, anti allergic medication, medicated gargles (such as Betadine) and OTC nasal decongestant drops ( 0.1 % Xylometazoline ) will help reduce the pain and discomfort. These drops should only be used for a few days.
3. The viral infection will run its course. You are already on anti nflammatory medication ( tylenol and tramadol). Take rest and keep you self well hydrated.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
I went BM this morning &* now BM with diarrhea. Nurse practioner said it I took antibiotic for more than 7 days, I'd get a bad dangerous diarrhea. So I thought I'd stop antibiriotic & not take 7th dose.
Steam inhalation sounds very good. Finally starting to get more mucus out ot nose
a lot now. Salt water gargle too. I don't know when I'm supposed to use Probiotics or how much to drink? I've had about 1" every day; Wallaby brand Kefir probiotics from Whole Food. Thank you so much. XXXXXXX
You are taking the right steps.

Hi,
Thank you for writing back.
1. Antibiotic associated diarrhea will decrease after you stop the antibiotic.
2. Get the mucus examined and cultured. It will help in treating the infection and the cough.
3. Probiotics can be started once or twice a day.
4. Get a Chest Physician's opinion on the cough and a cough mixture.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
