What Causes Sore Throat, Cold And Cough?
Question: Hello Doctor,
I am suffering from lot of sore throat and cough with mucus, mucus is actually occasionally.
The sore throat is more when i wake up in the morning or at the bed time. The cough when start doesn't stop and have very high intensity,
I am also having Cold. Was not able to sleep last night due to cough and sore throat till 2 am
Please advise.

Since it is a productive cough, Allegra will not work.

Hi welcome to health care magic,
Since it is a productive cough, Allegra will not work.
Do warm saline gargles and steam inhalation with Vicks.
Take something like Zedex cough syrup 2 tsp morning and noon.
Take Dilosyn cough syrup 2 tsp at night.
Continue till better.
If you are taking Amoxycillin--continue for 3 days but take with Omeprazole 20 half a hour before it to prevent acidity.
If not better in 2 days/develop high fever/become breathless, show your doctor.

You can take Benadryl or Phensydyl cough syrup at night. If you take Zedex at night, bouts of cough will disturb you.
Betadine is fine.
