What Causes Sore Throat, Ear Ache And Swollen Glands?
Question: I have had a painful sore throat, earache and swollen glands for 2 weeks. Went into sinuses and chest as well. I'm on amoxicillin for 10 days. Taken for 6. Cough and sinus pain have gotten better but throat, left ear and glands still very painful. Should I go back to doctor?

I have read your question and understand your concerns.
It seems you have bacterial infection of throat, we call it pharyngitis. It usually resolve within 5 days of treatment. As even after antibiotic therapy you still have sore throat and ear pain it might be possible that the drug treatment has worked partially only.
My advice to you is -
1.An examination by your doctor can detect that your throat still has infection or not.. So to visit your doctor is advisable.
2.Change in your antibiotic to Azithromycin or levofloxacin will clear the infection. Don't start on your own. Just ask your doctor about this.
3.Do salt water gargles daily 3 times, avoid cold drinks and curd. Drink plenty of water preferably warm.
Ask your doctor about cough syrups which can soothen your throat and give you symptomatic relief.
