What Causes Sore Throat, Fever And Body Aches After Oral Sex?
Question: Hi, I performed a Rim Job on a woman, and two days after, I had a very bad sore throat, fever and felt achy. The urgent care doctor gave me amoxicillin, and prednisone. I was on Amoxicillin for 10 days and prednisone for 4 days. I started feeling better, but two days after the amoxicillin was finished, my sore throat returned (just sore throat, I feel good besides that.) The doctor at Urgent Care then gave me an antibiotic shot into my butt cheek (I can't remember what it was), and 10 days of Cefdinir. The sore throat went away, but then came back 2 days after finishing the Cefdinir. I then saw my actual doctor (not urgent care) and he gave me a throat culture, and also Azithromycin for 5 days (250 mg a day, first day take 2). My sore throat is still not better. I have white patches on my left tonsil. I have had a sore throat now for a little over a month, and am very worried. What could the problem be, and how can I get rid of my sore throat and resume my normal life? I took an oral Gonorrhea and Chlamydia throat culture and both were negative. Thank you.
Brief Answer:
I suggest to do some further tests.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you writing in healthcaremagic.
Based on your history, I think you have done the right treatment for chlamydia, gonorrhea and strep throat.
Furthermore I suggest to do a throat culture for candida (oral thrush), serology for EBV (mononucleosis), and full blood count (to exclude hematologic pathology) as well.
I hope my answer helps you.
Regards.
