What Causes Sore Throat With White Spots At The Back Of Throat?
Question: Hi, my husband has had a sore throat 2 days now. His tonsils were removed at a young age. He has small scattered white spots on the back of his throat and a raised black strip down his tongue. Advice please?
Brief Answer:
3 days are required for antibiotics to work
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
This is pharyngitis and probably bacterial. Even if tonislls are removed, pharigitis still can occur at any age. If this is streptoccocal pharygintis than penicilin should work in 2-3 days. if not then it may be viral pharyingitis or other bacterial. In this case he should do throat swab to isolate exact microbe that is causing it. Wish you good health. Regards
