What Causes Sore Throat?

I went to another ENT specialist who had done fibre optic laryngeoscopy (FOL) which said some observations like DNS right with spur, GERD feature, chonsabullosa, sinonasal disease, vocal cord odematus gerd features etc. (please see the reports). he prescribed me some medicin like anti inflammatory, mucain and omeprazole etc. He told me my nasal duct blockage (picture attached) and advised me surgery. He even told me that since I am living in a dusty city (in Dubai) hence will have some allergic issues.
Now after six month, I am still having my sore throat. One of my previous doctor told me to CT PNS scan. it came more or less normal only showing DNS. Whenever, I wake up in the morning I have some dryness in my throat and constantly there are some mild irritation in my throat. When i give presentation or speak for long time, i feel pain in my throat. Sometimes my throat lymph nodes are swollen. I am scared of cancer although all my doctors said negative about it after physical as well as after fibric optic laryngeoscopy or endoscopy. My recent test showed negative H. pylori. My C- reactive protein is 1.2. My entire blood work is normal.
I want to know whether I have to live my rest of life like this throat irritation ? Is it curable or not? Do you consider that anything susceptible to throat cancer? Presently taking omeprazole 20 mg in breakfast and mucaine. please suggest me any advice to remove from this.....thanks in advance.
It is curable!!
Detailed Answer:
Hello
I can understand your distress and you have my full sympathy!
First thing i would like to assure you is that you DO NOT have cancer!!
Your symptom and age go against the diagnosis of cancer and i would like you to take it out of your mind forever.
It is likely that your nose disease is the cause for all your troubles and once that is taken care of , i am sure you will improve.
Your dns may cause difficulty in breathing through the nose while sleeping and this will cause throat dryness , which increases the chance of you getting an infection.
Besides the nose per se may be a focus of infection and this maybe tracking to your throat , giving rise to your complaints.
These symptoms can be exaggerated due to acid reflux which you are having.
I would like you to meet your ent doctor , who advised you surgery and strongly recommend that you consider it.
Meanwhile i would like you to continue your dietary restriction of spicy food , tea and coffee.
I would also like you to change your medications for acid reflux to rabeprazole plus dromperidone combination , which is more effective. this is marketed under various names and you can choose anyone you like.
Please let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thanks

Thank you so much for your clear answer. Just one last question, my doctor mentioned that I am having chronic granular hypertropic pharyngitis. Hence, just came to my mind that should you suggest me any antibiotic at this moment along with Rabeprazole plus domperidone? If yes then which antibiotic I should start?
I am taking betadine gurgle at night. Should I also include one disperine along with betadine for gurgle?
Forgive me for my ignorance. Just saw in the net hence thought to ask you.
Really appreciate your specialized answer,
Thanking in advance,
no need for the antibiotics!
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Granular pharyngitis is an expected response of the pharynx due to the irritation and will come down once the insult/irritation is removed. It does not represent an infection and does not need antibiotics .
You can just gargle with betadine , no need for disprin, that will help you and reduce the irritation.
Please try to gargle 2-3 times a day.
Take care!
