What Causes Soreness And Irritation In Breasts Post Breast Augmentation?

Question: My breasts (at nipple & areola area) have been very sore & irritated for several weeks. Nothing new in my ADL, am 57 years and post menopausal. Had bil breast lift & augmentation 5 years ago w/ saline implants, have not had any post op issues or problems. What could this be?

I can understand your concerns.

Saline implants are generally safe and should not be cause of irritation.

The reason of your sore breasts can be hormonal or infection.

I will advise you to get your Blood CBC and hormones (fsrh, Lh, prolactin) checked

If cause is hormonal it makes some sense, check prolactin , & LH.. Will have that done Monday .
Not sure about infection, no signs of redness, only extreme tenderness at nipple / areola area , on both sides or fever.
Does not appear to look like a yiest type infection, although not to be ruled out.

Yes, please get the hormones checked.

In the meantime you can apply borage oil for 5 days on both breasts.

It will help and has no side effects generally.
