What Causes Soreness And Swelling In The Hands?

default
Posted on Fri, 10 Nov 2017
Question: I was picking up case of soda and felt a pop in my wrist. It was a little sore in my hand for a good part of the day and resonated out to my ring finger. I went to bed and woke up with a very sore hand and I couldn't readily close my hand. It's loosed up a bit with slight discomfort but still noticeably stiff. I now have slight swelling in my palm. The ring finger is the most impacted.

Brief Answer:
no need to see doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
Considering your description this is most likely to be tendon injury and there was probably tendon dislocation that leads to tendinitis and palmar fasciitis of hand. This means that there is no bone or joint injury so there is no need for xrays or any other test. It is treated with icing, rest, take ibuprofen 3x400mg and avoid typing or similar activities with fingers.
In severe caes if there is no improvement, cast immobilization can be put, but at this point, elastic bandage may be enough
WIsh you good health. Regards
