More upsseting is that the texture of my thick course hair hass changed dramatically over the same few month time frmae and is now super fine and barely stays attached. I wnet to dermatoligist yesterday and she said TE. I had no stessful recent situations . I have recently been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea and Vitamin D decificanery which may have been for a couple of years. Am i going to lose all my hair? Brief Answer:
minoxidil should help

Detailed Answer:
Hi, I am Dr Mittal. I have read your query. I think I would be able to help you. The symptoms of the query are quite suggestive of male pattern loss of hair or alopecia. This problem usually starts somewhere in the middle ages. The hair usually become thin gradually.

I also agree with the treatment suggested to you. Minoxidil is a good option for the problem. However, the size has to be individualized. Also it's better when small amounts are applied repeatedly to keep the scalp wet with the solution. Total dose of 2 ml per day are usually advised. The percentage of solution varies. I usually prefer to give 2% solution and then step it up gradually.

I think I would be able to suggest that you try to talk to your doctor about another medicine called finasteride. It's a good medicine for alopecia in low doses like 1 mg ,if given in addition to minoxidil. In high doses of course, the medicine has side effects on prostate gland.

Am i going to lose all my hair? - Not necessarily. With the right treatment, hair loss can be prevented.

I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information helps you. Please feel free to contact us for more information. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.
