What Causes Spotting After A Vaginal Ultrasound?

Nothing to worry. It will subside.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The mild spotting after a vaginal ultrasound scan is a normal finding. Just relax and take rest. It should subside in next 2-3 days.
The spotting will turn to brown in 1-2 days suggesting an old bleed. If the fetal heart beat was present during the scan then there is no need to worry. Just continue taking the medicines that have been prescribed by your gynecologist. Avoid doing any heavy work or climbing stairs or having sex.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Better to avoid the repeat scan.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Getting a repeat ultrasound done can aggravate the bleeding. Since your baby is fine it is better to avoid having a repeat scan and let the area rest.
Hope my answer is helpful.

The bleeding seemed to subaide until tonight. I had some more dark blood but now with clotting. I read that with hematomas that clotting may occur. Should i be more any more concerned?
What questions ahould i ask my doctor tomorrow when i am able to consult with her directly? Any advice or recommendations?
I felt relieved after the appt yesterday morning but the clotting tonight scared me again.
Clotting is not worrisome.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
It is good that the baby is well. The clots and dark blood is due to hematoma. This will also gradually subside in next few days. No need to be concerned.
You can ask your doctor regarding the need of any progesterone supplements. Do continue taking folic acid supplements and take rest.
Regards.
