Hi. It could be Gastritis as suggested earlier. I usually prescribe my patients Pantoprazole or Omeprazole twice a day on empty stomach for the same. The history of clay colored stools points towards possibility of some biliary problem. You should see your Doctor and get your liver function tests done and also an Ultrasound abdomen. If the issue is gastritis, how long before these issue generally clear up. My first episode was over three weeks ago. The pain was incredibly intense and lasted for about 15 minutes. Since then the pain comes and goes with varying levels of intensity.
I have an appointment scheduled with my primary in two weeks - I just want to be sure I do not need to move the appointment to an earlier date.

Hi XXXX. Good to hear from you. If it is Gastritis you should feel relief from pain with medicines in a few days. But you should continue the medicine for a month at least once a day in the morning. If your stools are still light colored then you should see your Doctor. Do you have high colores urine or yellowing of your eyes? If yes these point towards jaindice and then you should get an earlier appointment. Otherwise you can attend the scheduled appointment. Take care.
