Question: dear doc, I am suffering from urinary tract infection. I have steep pain in the lower abdomen and the urinary tract. I am frequently urinating and consuming water too. I have taken 2 tabs of trozyd 20mg and zocef-v 500mg. now an hour after I took medicines I am still having a steep pain in the lower abdomen. how can I get temporary relief from this excruciating pain.

Hi,

I am sorry for your problem. I can understand your concern. Generally UTI doesn't cause this kind of steep and excruciating pain. Alternative cause should also be looked for. These include kidney stones in particular.

Moreover, you were given medication Trozyd which works for overactive bladder to reduce number of voids and an antibiotic which works for possible infection. Only one day dosage is too short to expect any results.

As I mentioned above confirmation of diagnosis is important in your case right now which can be done by an ultrasound or CT abdomen and urine culture and sensitivity. Before that pain relief through appropriate measures is crucial. I suggest you to visit emergency department as early as possible.
