What Causes Stiff Neck When Diagnosed With COPD?
Question: my mom has just found out she has copd and is on oxygen at home 24/7. she keeps getting a stiff neck or a creak in her neck . Could this be a side effect of oxygen ?
Brief Answer:
Stiff neck usually not from oxygen, most likely different cause
Detailed Answer:
Dear patient,
stiff neck is usually not associated with oxygen. Most likely it comes from weak and tense back muscles due to lack of moving and possible degeneration of the spine. Some pain medication like ibuprofene, local warmth, local injections and physical therapy can be of great help.
