What Causes Stinging Pain Under Legs And Back Pain?

default
Posted on Tue, 7 Oct 2014
Question: I am having a pin and needle effect under my legs for a few months, sometimes associated with a back pain (waist) and sometimes my legs felt uneasy (like there is no sense in my legs). These things do not occur all the time and everyday, but often. I visited a neurologist. He gave some medicines and asked me to do a MRI (LS) and Blood Test. I did it, MRI report appeared normal, and the blood report was also almost normal, but the SGOT and SGPT levels appeared a bit elevated. SGOT= 39.5, SGPT= 59.8. Please note I have done the test on fasting in the morning and I was having a period (menstruation) that time. I don't have blood sugar and also I took vaccine of Hep B.

Please suggest how can I manage this pin and needle effects on my legs and the back pain?

Brief Answer:
You need estimation of few vitamins like D & B12.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Pin and needle sensation in the legs and back pain may be due to many reasons like vitamin deficiency, disc prolapse, hypothyroidism etc.
Since MRI L/S spine scan is normal, deficiency of vitamin D,Vitamin B12 may be likely cause.
You need estimation of these factors.

Increased SGPT indicates liver injury. It may be due to many reasons like hepatitis, altered lipid profile etc.Since bilirubin level is normal,I suggest to take
tablet ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg twice daily for three months to my patients.
It may take 3-4 months to reverse the findings.

You should avoid saturated fat.
