Question: I started Essential Oils to detox my liver & kidneys. I put 3 drops of fennel, 4 drops of grapefruit, 4 drops of lemon, 2 drops od peppermint, & 2 drops of Juniper in my 20 ounce water for 7 days. And now i have a stinging rash from under my chin to my lower abdomen.
I have sat in 2 cups of epsom salt & 1 cup of vinegar baths for the past 2 evenings. The bath water was hot and I stayed for 25 minutes each night. t doesnt seem to be getting any better.. I apply a combination of coconut oil with lavendar oil to try & calm the itching but doesnt last long. What can I do to ease the stinging itch?

Brief Answer:
Sounds like a hypersensitivity reaction

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. In my opinion your body has experienced a hypersensitivity reaction to one or more of the ingredients of your detox mixture.

The first thing we need to do is to administer anti-histamines. As your rash has lasted for more than 2 days now, it would be best to either take oral tablets or a systemic injection (shot). The most commonly used medication whether in tablet or injection form for such circumstances is the active content pheniramine. I would recommend you to either try to get your hands on OTC (over-the-counter) preparation of the same. Please also do not sit in hot baths at this point as it can only further irritate the rash.

If at all the itching does not reduce within an hour of taking 2 tablets of pheniramine then please do report to an ER (emergency room). Please also try to drink as much water as possible, along with citrus fruits and fresh cranberry juice. These will help to expel the contents causing the symptoms of hypersensitivity in you ma'am.

I hope you find my response helpful ma'am. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes.

I have searched for the OTC name of the pheniramine & didnt find anything. but i did read that I need to inform you of other medical conditions. I had breast cancer in 2013, bilateral mastectomy & FLAP reconstrunction. I am on oral chemo, Arimidex.
Do you know some OTC drugs that have pheniramine in them?

Brief Answer:
Hope this helps

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.

Thank you so much for that information.

You can use pheniramine with arimidex (with the active contents anastrozole) without having a problem and concern of drug interactions.

Some of the available brand names of pheniramine are:

+Avil
+Advil
+Delhist-D
+Multihistamine-D
+Poly-histine
+Trihistine
+Theraflu
+S-T Forte
+Tussirex

I am sure your pharmacist can easily prescribe you an anti-histamine for your allergy like symptoms and you can then observe whether this helps suppress or resolve your symptoms or not.

I look forward to helping you further. Please do not ever hesitate to write to me anytime, about anything. I am always here to help.

Best wishes.

I went to pharmacy & read ingredients for the Advil & TheraFlu and they didnt have Pheniramine listed. I did find a generic brand of Allergy Relief that the active ingredient is chlorpheniramine maleate - antihistamine.
Will this work?

Brief Answer:
Yes it will ma'am

Detailed Answer:
Hi ma'am.

Yes you can take the medication with the active ingredient chlorpheniramine as well as it is an anti-histamine as well.

Take one tablet now, after a small meal. And may be (if required) another after 12-14 hours. Do let me know the response after the first pill, and if at all the need arises, the second one as well.

Best of luck.
