What Is Safe Dosage Of Sinarest For 2 Week Old Baby?

Doctor recommended my two weeks old son sinarest as he is suffering from cold (running eyes and nose sometimes a day) Paracetamol+Phenylephrine Hydrochloride+Chlorpheniramine Maleate Drops. Is it safe to give him sinarest drops? and what should be the safest quantity?

Hi,

It is not safe to give sinarest drops for a 2 week old baby. The nasal decongestant phenylephrine present in sinarest drops may cause high blood pressure or seizure hence should be avoided in young babies. I advise him normal saline nasal drops which can help loosen mucus. Steam inhalation or humidifier are also equally effective in clearing the nasal congestion.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
