What Causes Stomach Bloating While On Pain Killers?
Question: I suffered a fall 5 days ago and have 6 fractured ribs. Have been on high dose pain killers ie endone, targin, etc. My stomach has becdome very bloated, quite hard to the touch, and also my feet are swollen which I have neverhad before
Could these be the side effects of the medication?

Hi
I prefer to investigate thoroughly a person who sustained blunt trauma or fall.
You should get a Plain xray abdomen, Ultrasound abdomen to rule out injury to the bowel .
As your feet is swollen,you should take xray of the affected area and also Colour doppler of the lower limb to rule out Deep vein thrombosis.
If all the investigations are normal, then side effect of medicine can be thought of.
Please consult a General surgeon,get examined clinically and proceed accordingly.
I examine a patient from head to toe in case of fall or any injury due to road traffic accident.
