Posted on Mon, 15 Dec 2014
Question: About 5 weeks ago I developed diarrhea for about 4 days with fever. After not having appetite at all finally went to urgent care and got antibiotics and they took a stool culture which came back negative. Began feeling much better but have never got back to 100%. No more fever but just stomach discomfort. Have a bad taste in mouth but has gotten better as well. Have always been regular everyday exercise daily. Just can't seem to get back to normal?

Brief Answer:
Stay optimistic and positive!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this the stomach discomfort and the difficulties returning to 100% of your state before illness. I have reviewed your information fully and it is very suggestive of the fact that you probably had gastro-enteritis caused by a virus. This explains the brief nature and the negative culture results as we do not routinely culture viruses.

The good news is you have improved and the not so great news is that you have not returned to 100%. Please, others do return immediately and in other instances you may be able to do so but not always the same. The fact that you have not returned doesn't mean you are still sick, it means this requires more time before your regain your full capacity. You would need to exercise patience and resilience before getting there.

I will not suggest undertaking any further aggressive measures at this time to address this problem.. I will rather monitor and make sure you are improving every day over time. It may take long but am confident you would get there.

I recommend regular physical exercise, fruits, vegetables and a positive state of mind. Unless something else comes up, there is no need for more medical attention at this time.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
