
What Causes Stomach Pain And Bloating After Partial Removal Of Colon?

Question: My mother is 84 years old. She's been suffering from stomach pain for quite some time. At this moment she complaints about being uncomfortable in her stomach area. She has bloating, gas and diahrrea. The pain she has in her stomach at times is at the bottom and top and sides. She has no appetite and she's been forcing herself to eat but still losing weight. She's has most of her colon taken out about 9 years ago. She suffers from high blood pressure, gout, rheumtiod arthrities and diverticulosis. she recently suffered a seizure. the hospital doctors ruled out heart attack and stroke.
she's been laying in bed for five weeks feeling uncomfortable and forcing herself to eat.
she si supposed to get a colonscopy but is not interested. The ct scan ruled out diverticula.

If the CT scan has failed to identify any defect which could cause the above symptoms then the only choice is a colonoscopy and a luminal biopsy under the colonoscopic guidance.
I understand its an unpleasant procedure but it is inevitable. It does help a great big deal in finding and formulating treatment for the ailment.
A biopsy is a must as the symptoms she has appear to be due to inflammatory condition affecting the intestinal mucosa as she is already has a history of surgery.
