What Causes Stomach Pain While Standing Post Pneumonia Treatment?

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Dec 2014
Question: I was in the hospital with pneumonia for three days and just came home five days ago. For the past 2 days I've had stomach pain. It hurts worse when I stand or walk. Is this connected to the pneumonia? Do I need to go to the doctor immediately or can I wait until Tuesday (my regularly scheduled post pneumonia check-up?

Brief Answer:
Is the pain bearable? Where is it precisely?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this pain. Whether to go see the doctor no or on Tuesday depends on how bad this pain is. If the pain is bearable, I would say wait and go in on Tuesday. If you think it is too much to carry on with, I will recommend you go to the doctors now. There is no other worrisome symptoms that makes this pain concerning beyond the intensity at this time.

Abdominal pains in elderly is not related to pneumonia. Moreover, you had been feeling better before being discharged and this should not be a problem now to go on and cause abdominal pain.

I hope to hear from you on what your responses and way forward is.
