What Causes Strained Urination Wihe Yellow Discharge And Blood In Urine?

Question: Over a period of approximately two to three hours I experienced a strain to urinate followed by repeated urges to urinate with only a small amount passing followed by several brown/yellow pus appearing spots in the urinal followed by visible bleeding in the urine followed by a clearing of the urine and returning to a normal flow of urine. Could I possibly have passed gravel or small stones without feeling any pain in the process? My doctor did not bring this up as a cause of blood in urine, rather believes the blood came from within the bladder itself. The symptoms have not repeated.
Brief Answer:
Urinary Tract Infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Since your CT scan is showing small kidney stones and cystoscopy showed no nodules or tumors and yellow pus is found in your urine along with blood u do not need to worry much as it is not cancer.
U are most probably suffering from urinary tract infection.
U need to do urine culture sensitivity test and according to the sensitivity report u need to start a course of antibiotics for 7 days.
Consult your doctor with the urine culture sensitivity report for the appropriate choice of antibiotic.
Hope i have answered your query
Warm Regards

It's my fault for not being as thorough as I should have been. A urine culture was taken and came back negative for a urinary tract infection. My urologist did take a sample of urine from within the bladder when he performed the cystoscopy. I am waiting now to hear the results. He told me they will be checking to see if any cancer cells show up. Regardless, he wants to follow me closely and I have an appointment to return in three months. As for the redness and irritation in the bladder he said it might have been there for quite some time and could be the result of past infections. He termed it "non-specific." The CT scan done earlier showed no abnormalities of the bladder, urinary tract system, abdomen, kidneys or lymph nodes, but obviously could not pick up the red patches the cystoscopy showed on the bladder's inner lining. I am still wondering if the blood in the urine could have been related to small kidney stones passing, in other words a manifestation separate from the cystoscopy finding. At any rate, whether or not the blood in the urine was due to a separate cause, I am know my course now is to fall in line with the follow-up my urologist is prescribing. Any additional comments from you would be much appreciated based on my additional information. Thanks you.

Brief Answer:
Kidney Stone
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am happy to hear your urine culture report came out to be negative. In my opinion, you must wait for the urine cytology report. If that also comes out to be negative then malignancy is ruled out.
Bladder or kidney stones can also cause both gross and microscopic bleeding and in your case is the most probable cause of bleeding in urine.
As far as the lesions on found during the cystoscopy is concerned, an urologist will be able to give some information about it. As an oncologist, we do not routinely perform cystoscopy. It is something that is purely handled by urologist. You may want to ask other urologist from this panel. However as I said earlier, if the urine cytology is clear from malignant cells, this lesion is less likely to be from cancer.
If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish you good health".
