Brief Answer:
Go for stool examination.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.

Foul smelling stools could be due to retained stools in the colon or decreased motility and decreased intake of fluids or could be infective (bacterial or parasitic) but it should be evaluated further by routine blood and stool tests.

Usually bowel infections caused by organisms like E.coli, amebiasis can also cause foul smelling stools which may be associated with abdominal pain and diarrhea.

You have already done blood tests which came normal, then we can think of the non-infecive cause after stool examination.

Sometimes when fat in the diet does not get absorbed, it gets excreted in large amounts in the stool and cause severe foul smell and also the stool floats in water.

Severe constipation can also cause foul smelling due to bacterial fermentation as well..

So,it would be best to undergo stool (for routine microscopy, reducing substance, ova and cyst) examination to rule out infection if you have done it earlier.(blood tests already done)

1) Eat a diet with plenty of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables.

2) Drink plenty of water and exercise daily.Avoid food stuff which cause excessive fermentation.

3) Make a habit of passing stools almost everyday because impacted stool in bowel can cause also constipation and further foul smelly stools.

4) Probiotics supplements such as sporolac-ds will also be helpful.

5) You may need antibiotics like ofloxacin and ornidazole course if underlying cause is infective.

6) Albendazole can also be taken for de-worming but all these anti-microbial drugs are prescription based,so consult you physician who will know about it.

7) You may take laxatives or purgatives like syrup cremaffin plus in night time to have a effortless bowel evacuation.

8) You should also take proton pump inhibitors like pantoprazole or rabeprazole which will reduce the excess acid production in stomach and thus will help in gas trouble.

I hope I have answered your query. I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
