What Causes Sudden Drop Of Body Temperature And Cold Feeling All The Time?

Question: I am experiencing, what is for me, a low body temp of 96.6 - 96.8. I am staying cold despite having on a sweater and having the heat on in my office to the point where co-workers are complaining it is too hot. I just finished a round of antibiotics for an infection/inflammation of my throat right above my vocal cords. Could this be a continuation of this illness or possibly something else?

I appreciate your concern

As you are afebrile and are experiencing inadequate warmth despite having sweater and a heater at your office, such a presentation demands that the thyroid function tests be done. A hypothyroid state can cause such symptoms. The temperature should be rechecked and any focus of infection should be looked for. The throat should be re examined to look for resolution of the previous infection. One can dig further into the case based on the findings of the thyroid examination. Blood counts and ESR/CRP can also be advised as part of the workup.
