Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for your query
I'm Dr. Shuba Hariprasad and will be answering your query today.
Allow me to address your concerns individually.
1) Sudden loss of appetite, weight loss, inability to eat though hungry, feeling sick and weak.
Would you please clarify a few things for me?
- how fast did you lose 5kg?
-what is your height and weight?
-what blood tests did you do and what were the results?
-what were the results of endoscopy?
-does the medicine you take now help?
-any other symptoms like cough, headaches, fever, abdominal pain, blood in stools (black or dark green stools) , frothy urine, menstrual irregularities, growing moles on skin, lethargy, fatigue, inability to do routine things?
-any history of travel outside your state. If so where and when?
-any other medical issues? Medications?
Based on your symptoms, I would like to rule out anemia and thyroid hormone imbalances. Gastritis could also cause this.(but has been ruled out by endoscopy).
I recommend: (please exclude those already done)
-blood tests (complete blood count, peripheral smear, TSH, free T3, free T4, Vitamin D levels, kidney and liver function tests, lipid profile, blood glucose levels)
-stool analysis to check for parasites and occult blood
-urine analysis for protein loss
Based on above tests and clinical exam findings, I could help you further.
2) root canal treatment (RCT) is usually done under then coverage of antibiotics especially if infection is present. Yes it is possible to swallow some microbes or for it to enter blood directly but under the cover of antibiotics, shouldn't pose a risk for problems.,
-what medications did you take for the RCT? Please mention names, dosage and duration
-how long after RCT did you develop your current symptoms?
-how many RCT did you have?
Even if you did swallow microbes, it would be killed in the stomach acid.
If not, lose stools or vomiting or bloating would result.
If it entered blood, fever would be present with more severe signs.
3) digestive tract infection doesn't always show up in blood test and that too it is indirect indication.
Signs of infection may be present like increased white blood count or elevated liver function tests but doesn't directly indicate an infection in the intestine.
A stool test will show you this (as mentioned above)
I understand your anxiety but stress itself can cause loss of appetite. Try to relax, do something that you enjoy.
May I suggest:
- try to eat bland and small meals every 2-3 hours. Eat even if not hungry.
- avoid caffeine /carbonated and sugary drinks
-avoid spicy, oily and fatty food till you feel better.
-if nausea is preventing you from eating, keep something like lemon, orange or mint next to you to curb the nausea if you feel it. (poke a few holes in the fruit and smell it's essence)
-Have cool milk and sips of water through out the day. Stay well hydrated (urine should be pale color during the day).
Hope this helps.
Please get back to me with the clarifications.
I'd be happy to help with any other questions you may have.
Wish you good health.
Regards,
Dr. Shuba Hariprasad

Thank you for your answer. forRCT, THE DENTIST DID NOT GIVE ME ANY ANTIBIOTIC. My thoung smell bacteria but she didnot give me any antibiotic.
and all this happened after RCT.
I was tested for all those test above and all ame negative exept
-stool analysis to check for parasites and occult blood
which i am still waiting for result.
I had sinus infection for 2 month ago plus root canal 1 month ago.
After that this symptom accured.
Please see below
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for the follow up.
It may be that you didn't have any evidence of infection that your dentist did not prescribe any anti biotics. In any case, there was no infection at the time, else you would have shown symptoms of fever, toothache & inflammation long before now.
Did you take any antibiotics for your sinus infection? Postnasal drip (common in sinusitis) can give rise to a foul smell on the back of your throat and tongue.
Let us wait for your stool results. Given that all the blood tests I suggested were normal, It is most likely mild gastritis, (if stools are normal as well).
Please try my suggestions for two weeks and let me know how you feel. If you continue to have unexplained weight loss, a review of blood tests and clinical exam must be done.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Hope you feel better soon.
Wish you good health
Regards,
Dr. Shuba Hariprasad
