Question: I became confused for @20 minutes yesterday - I didn't remember family names or addresses or recent events . I had a headache across my forehead and eyes and light sensitivity which lasted all day and until @ 1:00 a.m. today. Headache and sensitivity continues, but less. My BP was high for me (163/93) and I took Apotex, 25 mg . which brought it down to normal range for me. I take this pill daily along with Metroprolol Succ Ex 25 mg daily. H/O chr sinusitis, chr bursitis both hips, R.A. , Fibromyalgia and on meds : Hydroxychloroquine, 200 mg bid, Savella, 50 mg q.d. Asprin, 81 mg , Allergy pill, BP meds and Tylenol prn. Just completed a round of IC Predisone tapering dose and IC Amox TR-K CLV 875 for a sinus infection approx. 5 days ago.

Note: RA test was negative, Sed rate ^ and x-ray wrist positive

Do you think I need a head CT and further follow-up? What are your suggestios?

Brief Answer:
stroke is a possible cause of confusional state

Detailed Answer:
Hello, i have gone through your question and understand your concern.

You have experienced a temporary confusional state in my opinion. While confusional states have many causes, in your case I would suspect corticosteroid adverse effect and less probably a stroke.
Headache is not specific in this case and is almost always associated with confusional state once it is over.

CT scan would not help in this case becuase if there was a brain damage visible in CT the confusional state would not have passed in 20 min. So if there was some brain damage the cause of confusional state, only the MRI would reveal, or at least exclude for sure brain damage.

Wishing you good health, please feel free for further questions.
