Question: My husband has dementia. His mood is good and he is cooperative. In the last week he has become overly fatigued, doesn't want to leave his bed etc. Is there anything I can do? Do I just let him stay in bed?

Brief Answer:
He needs a medical evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.

A sudden onset of severe fatigue is indeed concerning and could be due to a variety of causes. Some of the possibilities are an electrolyte (salt) imbalance in the body, an underlying infection, anemia, dehydration, abnormal blood sugars, depression, etc.

It is important to find out what exactly has caused him to become so fatigued and treat the cause promptly. So, I would advise you to take him to your GP for a medical evaluation and further management.
