What Causes Sudden Pain In Upper Back While Taking Deep Breath?

Question: Hello Dr, I had a sudden pain while taking a deep breathe inside my upper back, between my shoulder blades. I took a few more deep breathes and the pain occurred each time. Then it went away, but I am still really concerned. I have no other symptoms.
Brief Answer:
usually nothing to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
This type of pain if is not lingering on or not occuring with each consecutive breath, shall not be bothered about. It may occur due to..
1. Muscle spasms that settle by itself.
2. Acid reflux during a sudden deep breath
3. Rubbing of shoulder blade against chest wall.
If this pain is not persistent, should not bother but needs evaluation if occurs frequently.
regards,
usually nothing to worry

Thank you doctor. It wasn't the muscle. It was more internal. Almost as if it was behind my spine.
Brief Answer:
No need to be worried.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, when i said muscular it means all the muscles used for respiration and they are a lot in number. Extending from jus under the skin to the rib cage, around the spine, and diaphragm also. So any of this muscular spam can cause such pain.
Either ways you don't have to worry if
1. It is no persistent & occurring with every breath
2. It is not causing breathing problem
3. Not associated with cough or blood in the sputum.
Regards
No need to be worried.
