What Causes Sudden Stiffness In A Knuckle Of A Finger?

default
Posted on Thu, 22 Jun 2017
Question: I had finger fusion on the knuckle near my finger nail about 6 months ago and all went well. Now all of a sudden the middle knuckle on that finger gets stuck in the straight position and I have to manipulate it to bend it again. Why would this start happening to that knuckle?

Brief Answer:
Can be due to arthritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The stucking of the finger in straight position can be due to arthritic changes in the joint after the surgery. There can be mild tendonitis also in case there is any pain and inflammation. Regular physiotherapy of the joint is needed to prevent further degenerative changes in the joint.
I hope this answers your query.
