Question: My girlfriend had an abortion about 3 weeks ago, the pregnancy was 2 weeks so she took an abortion pill misoprostol and another tablet she had to insert in her and drink too .... and now for the past two days she told me she bn sweating and she feels pain when she touches her abdomen and also when she walks she feels a little and its very difficult for her to lay on her stomach. what could be the possible cause for her pain please and also she told me its not really a sharp pain

Your friend may have an infection in her uterus, which can happen after a medical or surgical abortion. Symptoms include fever and pain when touching the uterus, which was happening when your friend lay on her stomach or touched her uterus.

A uterine infection needs treatment with antibiotics and even sometimes patients need to be admitted to the hospital for IV antibiotics. So I strongly recommend your friend see a GYN doctor right away or go to a local emergency room for evaluation. Delaying treatment can even cause the infection to spread to the rest of the body, which is called sepsis and can be very serious.

So again in summary- the symptoms your friend describes may be due to an infection in the uterus and she need to see a physician right away for proper diagnosis and treatment. I hope you convey my advice to her and that she is evaluated soon.

Thirdly, I would not recommend prescribing anything to your friend without a doctor visit. She needs to see a physician for a physical examination, because even though she feels better today, she could still be very sick. She may even need IV antibiotic treatment in a hospital, not just pills to take at home. Furthermore, she may still be pregnant, if she had a medical abortion and did not follow up with her doctor, so that needs to be determined as well.
